Interdisciplinary Computing and IDC

The State of Florida has recognized the need for an interdisciplinary approach to computing education and has created a new discipline and course prefix in the Statewide Course Numbering System. Descriptions for the discipline, prefix, and century classifications within the prefix are provided below.

The Interdisciplinary Computing Discipline

Courses offered in the interdisciplinary computing discipline teach computing and information technologies utilized across multiple non-computing disciplines to empower and inspire students to creatively use technology in their own disciplines.

The IDC Course Prefix

This prefix is designated to accommodate courses that teach interdisciplinary computing and information technologies across non-computing disciplines to provide students with the technical skills to make them competitive within their discipline.
